Overview of the Role
The Patient Access Representative IV is a pivotal role within the healthcare system, requiring a high level of expertise in all essential functions. This position is responsible for managing the admissions process for both pre-admit and in-person patient registrations at the facility. The role ensures seamless patient access to healthcare services while gathering comprehensive demographic and financial information. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting all admissions tasks for pre-admit and face-to-face patient registrations.
- Securing financial clearance and accurately determining the patient's financial classification through insurance verification.
- Executing thorough system searches to either retrieve or assign medical record numbers, adhering to patient identification protocols.
- Selecting the appropriate physician while recognizing and addressing any privileging concerns.
- Exhibiting exceptional patient interviewing capabilities, ensuring sensitivity and attentiveness to the needs of diverse patient populations.
- Managing inquiries independently, escalating issues as necessary, and ensuring effective resolution.
- Demonstrating strong collection skills, explaining patient financial obligations, and achieving cash collection targets.
- Collaborating with physicians and specialty departments to ensure accurate information intake for registrations and account modifications.
- Navigating and inputting patient and financial data into the hospital's ADT system proficiently.
- Training frontline staff on procedural protocols and assisting with patient inquiries.
- Preparing business correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets as needed.
- Fostering positive working relationships with colleagues across departments.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration or a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of four years of experience in a healthcare-related role is essential.
- Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) is required upon hire.
