The Patient Access Representative IV is a highly skilled role that requires exceptional proficiency in all essential functions. This position is responsible for overseeing all admission processes for both pre-admission and in-person patient registration at the facility. The representative ensures seamless patient access to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center while accurately gathering all necessary demographic and financial information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all admission processes for pre-admission and in-person patient registration.
- Secure financial clearance and accurately classify patients' financial status.
- Conduct insurance verifications through various methods for both government and private accounts.
- Perform thorough searches to obtain or assign medical record numbers without duplication.
- Adhere to the Patient Identification Policy when verifying medical record numbers.
- Select appropriate physicians while recognizing and resolving any privileging issues.
- Exhibit excellent patient interviewing techniques, ensuring sensitivity and attentiveness to the patient population.
- Handle inquiries independently, escalating issues as necessary and ensuring resolution is communicated to management.
- Demonstrate strong collection skills, explaining patient financial obligations and achieving cash collection targets.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialty departments to ensure accurate information intake for registration and account modifications.
- Show proficiency in navigating and entering patient and financial data into the hospital's ADT system and related platforms.
- Potential for super user status based on skill level.
- Provide training to front-line staff on protocols and applications used for managing patient accounts.
- Assist customer service teams with complex situations and compose necessary business documentation as required.
- Foster positive working relationships with colleagues across various departments.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience in a healthcare environment, ideally within the Cedars-Sinai system.
- Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) is required upon hire.
