Senior Patient Access Representative

Job Overview
The Patient Access Representative IV is a highly skilled role requiring exceptional proficiency in all essential functions. This position is responsible for managing all patient admission processes, including pre-admission and in-person registration for individuals seeking treatment at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The representative ensures seamless patient access and accurately collects all necessary demographic and financial registration details.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all patient admission tasks for both pre-admit and face-to-face registration.
2. Secure financial clearance and accurately classify patients based on their financial status.
3. Conduct insurance verifications through electronic means, phone calls, or relevant websites for both government and private accounts.
4. Perform thorough system searches to obtain or assign medical record numbers without duplication.
5. Adhere to Cedars-Sinai Patient Identification Policy during the assignment and verification of medical record numbers.
6. Select appropriate physicians while recognizing and addressing any privileging concerns.
7. Exhibit outstanding patient interviewing abilities, ensuring sensitive interactions with the patient demographic.
8. Independently manage inquiries, escalate issues as necessary, and ensure proper follow-up with management.
9. Demonstrate effective collection techniques, explaining patient financial responsibilities and achieving cash collection targets.
10. Collaborate with physicians and specialty departments to ensure accurate information intake for registration and account modifications.
11. Show proficiency in navigating and entering patient and financial data in the hospital's ADT system and related platforms.
12. Provide training to frontline staff on documentation, procedures, and system usage, assisting them with patient inquiries and operational questions.
13. Support the customer service team in resolving complex situations.
14. Prepare business correspondence, reports, and spreadsheets as required.
15. Foster positive working relationships with colleagues across departments.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Hospital Administration or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of four years of experience in a healthcare setting, ideally within the Cedars-Sinai system.
- Certification as a Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) is mandatory upon hire.
