Overview: The Risk Management division plays a crucial role in evaluating and mitigating various risk factors across diverse asset classes and investment types. This team collaborates closely with all investment units within UTIMCO to ensure comprehensive risk oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct quantitative assessments of market exposures to provide effective risk management oversight.
  • Utilize expertise in portfolio risk, staying informed on market trends, economic forecasts, and industry developments.
  • Design and implement automated systems for data aggregation, cleansing, and transformation to enhance risk analytics.
  • Create analytical frameworks tailored to specific asset classes to better quantify inherent risks and improve the overall Endowment and portfolio construction process.
  • Negotiate various contracts on behalf of UTIMCO and its managers, including NDAs and customized service agreements.
  • Research and analyze current trends in risk management and asset allocation, offering insights for portfolio enhancement.
  • Prepare detailed analyses of asset classes, their contributions to the Endowment, and the associated risk profiles for presentation to the Investment Committee.
  • Engage in due diligence processes for investment managers.
  • Network with peers in the Endowment risk management community to stay updated on best practices.
  • Monitor the overall portfolio's risk and exposures, ensuring alignment with established policies and advising on derivative-related risks.
  • Develop and implement standardized internal risk management protocols.
  • Create models to assess and manage investments and derivatives effectively.

Qualifications:

  • 10-15 years of experience in investment or market-related roles, providing a solid understanding of market dynamics.
  • A Master's degree or PhD in finance, economics, mathematics, or engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in analytical and financial software (e.g., Matlab, Python, R, SQL).
  • Strong background in probabilities, statistics, and empirical analysis.
  • Experience in managing risk within multi-asset investment portfolios using external risk management systems.
  • Familiarity with financial markets and investment management practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of investment derivatives and their modeling.
  • Demonstrated integrity, transparency, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a respectful and collegial environment.
  • Proven track record of success and intellectual curiosity.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Capability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong presentation skills, with the ability to address large groups on various Risk Management topics.
  • A constructive, team-oriented attitude focused on the organization's best interests.
