Position Objective:

The Plant Maintenance team is responsible for providing automation and electromechanical support for production machinery and equipment. This team is dedicated to ensuring continuous production with minimal interruptions by effectively troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues. Responsibilities include addressing mechanical and electrical challenges and conducting scheduled maintenance on machinery. This role involves collaborating with team members to perform and document troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on high-speed manufacturing, injection molding, packaging, and sterilization equipment. Additional duties may encompass project work, offline rebuild tasks, and training fellow technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Operations technicians and Engineers in a cross-functional maintenance team to reduce machine downtime and enhance production efficiency.
  • Diagnose, repair, and accurately document machine malfunctions.
  • When feasible, troubleshoot and diagnose PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) control systems software.
  • Conduct and document preventative maintenance as required.
  • Communicate machine issues and downtime effectively to other shifts and management.
  • Assist with offline machine rebuilds or preparatory work.
  • Ability to work a twelve-hour rotational shift schedule is essential.
  • Minimal travel may be necessary to support equipment build, integration, and training.
  • Support plant manufacturing equipment systems under the guidance of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical apprenticeship or Associate's degree in a related electrical or mechanical field is preferred; however, relevant job experience may substitute for degree requirements.
Specialized Skills:
  • Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) are preferred.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years in a technician role focused on equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, particularly medical devices, is advantageous.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are crucial.
Special Skills:
  • Understanding of cGMP and experience in a cleanroom environment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics is required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong troubleshooting skills are essential.
  • PLC troubleshooting skills are desirable.
  • Experience with programming and troubleshooting robots (SCARA, FANUC, Staubli, IAI) and servo motors is advantageous.
  • Experience with injection molding machines (both electric and hydraulic) is desirable.
