Position Objective:
The Plant Maintenance team is responsible for providing automation and electromechanical support for production machinery and equipment. This team is dedicated to ensuring production continuity with minimal interruptions by diagnosing and rectifying equipment malfunctions. Responsibilities include addressing mechanical and electrical challenges and executing scheduled maintenance on machinery. This role involves collaborating with team members to perform and document troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on high-speed manufacturing, injection molding, packaging, and sterilization equipment. Additional duties may encompass project work, offline rebuild tasks, and training fellow technicians.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Operations technicians and Engineers in a cross-functional maintenance team to reduce machine downtime and enhance production efficiency.
- Diagnose, repair, and accurately document machinery issues.
- Identify and troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) control systems software when feasible.
- Conduct and record preventive maintenance as necessary.
- Communicate machine issues and downtime to other shifts and management.
- Assist with offline machine rebuilds or preparatory work.
- Willingness to work a twelve-hour rotational shift schedule is essential.
- Minimal travel may be required to support equipment assembly and training.
- Support plant manufacturing equipment systems under the guidance of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Technical apprenticeship or Associate's degree in a related electrical or mechanical field is preferred, though relevant job experience may substitute for educational requirements.
- Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) standards and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) are preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years in a technician role focusing on equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Experience in the medical device or regulated industry documentation is advantageous.
- Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment are critical.
- Understanding of cGMP and experience in a cleanroom environment is preferred.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics is required.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and strong troubleshooting skills are essential.
- PLC troubleshooting skills are desirable.
- Experience with programming and troubleshooting robots (SCARA, FANUC, Staubli, IAI) and servo motors is advantageous.
- Experience with injection molding machines (both electric and hydraulic) is desirable.
As per New York State's pay transparency legislation, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range for roles performed in New York State. Actual compensation is influenced by various factors, including skill set, experience level, and specific office location. The starting hourly pay rate for this role is $32.15/hour.
