Role Objective:
The Electro-Mechanical Technician II is an integral part of the Plant Maintenance team, responsible for providing automation and electro-mechanical support for various production machinery and equipment. This role is crucial in ensuring continuous production flow by promptly troubleshooting and rectifying equipment malfunctions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Operations technicians and Engineers in a multidisciplinary team to minimize equipment downtime and enhance production efficiency.
  • Diagnose, repair, and meticulously document machinery issues.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics on PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) systems when feasible.
  • Execute and record preventative maintenance tasks as required.
  • Communicate equipment issues and downtime effectively to other shifts and management.
  • Assist with offline machine rebuilds and preparation work.
  • Adhere to a rotational shift schedule as mandated by Bausch + Lomb.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary to support equipment integration and training.
  • Support plant manufacturing equipment systems under the guidance of the Plant Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical apprenticeship or an Associate's degree in a related electrical or mechanical field is preferred; however, relevant job experience may substitute for educational requirements.
Specialized Skills:
  • Familiarity with OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Act) regulations and basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook) are preferred.
Experience:
  • A minimum of 5 years in a technician role focused on equipment repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Experience in a regulated industry, particularly in medical devices, is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential.
Additional Skills:
  • Understanding of cGMP and experience in a cleanroom environment is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics is required.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong troubleshooting skills are necessary.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting is desirable.
  • Familiarity with programming and troubleshooting robotic systems (SCARA, FANUC, Staubli, IAI) and servo motors is a plus.
  • Experience with injection molding machines (both electric and hydraulic) is advantageous.
