Highlands Health and Rehabilitation Center is currently in search of a Communication Specialist to contribute to the planning, organization, development, and management of Speech Language Pathology services in alignment with existing federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. This role is essential in ensuring that the highest quality of resident care is consistently upheld.

This position is full-time with flexible daytime hours. Weekend availability may be necessary based on the needs of the facility.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Delivering high-quality speech therapy services and making referrals as needed, adhering to established standards of practice and departmental procedures.
  • Conducting evaluations and gathering necessary data for effective treatment planning and execution.
  • Creating comprehensive treatment plans that outline target objectives, as well as short-term and long-term goals.
  • Educating patients, families, and staff on appropriate speech-language techniques to facilitate the integration of therapeutic goals into daily routines.
  • Completing compliant and medically necessary documentation in accordance with CMS expectations using NetHealth EMR systems.
  • Overseeing and implementing proper protocols for FEES/MBS in coordination with site programs.
  • Participating in screening protocols to ensure that the needs of residents are met promptly and with clinical excellence.
Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency.
  • Active SLP license in the state(s) of practice is required.
  • Commitment to ongoing education and professional development to maintain licensure and certification.
