Position Overview
The Equity Alliance is in search of a Community Engagement Specialist to operate within Memphis and Shelby County. The specialist will cultivate relationships and gain a profound understanding of community dynamics in targeted Black neighborhoods. Responsibilities encompass organizing and canvassing initiatives aimed at enhancing civic participation and boosting voter registration continuously. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong capacity to foster collaboration and cooperation among diverse groups in a dynamic environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Establish connections and organize varied communities
  • Identify and collaborate with trusted individuals and potential leaders
  • Facilitate and coordinate presentations and volunteer training sessions
  • Lead community outreach, digital marketing, and canvassing initiatives
  • Recruit and oversee volunteers for voter mobilization and registration efforts

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licenses/Certifications: Valid Driver's License and dependable transportation
  • Skills: Proficiency in Office 365 and Google Drive, familiarity with office management systems, exceptional communication abilities
  • Experience: Effectively engaging with diverse populations
  • Competencies: Interpersonal & Communication Skills, Attention to Detail, Time Management

Physical Requirements:

  • Manual dexterity sufficient for handling items and perceiving attributes of objects
  • Occasional lifting and moving up to 50 pounds
  • Required to stand, walk, climb, kneel, stoop, and balance
  • Occasional outdoor work or walking through neighborhoods for canvassing events

Logistical Considerations

  • Ability to drive with reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • Evening and weekend work may be necessary
