Visiting Faculty Role at International Honors Program/SIT Study Abroad

Overview of the Position and Organization: The School for International Training (SIT) is seeking a Visiting Faculty member to contribute to the interdisciplinary faculty team and country coordinators for the IHP Human Rights: Movements, Power, and Resistance program. SIT is a renowned global institution dedicated to providing a variety of educational programs through its divisions, including SIT Study Abroad and SIT Graduate Institute.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging instruction and oversee two courses: Fieldwork Ethics and Comparative Methods, as well as Comparative Issues in Human Rights.
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team to manage academic, administrative, and student-related matters effectively.
  • Ensure the health and safety of students, taking responsibility for their well-being throughout the program.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

Essential Experience/Education:
- A terminal degree in a relevant discipline such as Human Rights, Anthropology, Sociology, or similar fields.
- Proven teaching experience at the collegiate level with a strong commitment to experiential learning.
- Preference for candidates with international living and working experience.
- Research background in human rights, social justice, and development.

Essential Skills:
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented study abroad environment.
- Proficient in supporting and communicating effectively with students.
- Adaptable teaching methods and a creative approach to educational practices.

Vaccination is recommended for employees, with exemptions considered.

The IHP Human Rights program explores the historical and social dimensions of human rights, analyzing rights discourse and grassroots movements for social change. It employs a multidisciplinary perspective to deepen the understanding of human rights challenges.
