Regional Business Development Manager

Job Description:
This role is focused on growing Steel Technologies' presence in the Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana territory, particularly in the Metropolitan Detroit area.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with management to establish goals for our strategic customer base.
- Understand our company's strengths and value proposition.
- Pursue education and development within the company.
- Become an expert in our business offerings and maintain accurate records to communicate this information to management.
- Solicit new business opportunities and quote projects that align with our value proposition.
- Respond to quotations in a timely manner using our standard quoting format.
- Convert quotations into earned business.
- Maintain existing relationships, improving profit where possible, and grow within existing accounts.
- Accountable for monthly forecasts and work with inside sales and customers to improve forecast accuracy.
- In conjunction with inside sales, purchasing, business planning, and management, manage customer inventory and accounts receivable to meet agreed return on working capital targets.
- Ensure pricing updates are clearly communicated to inside sales, program managers, and administrative staff as necessary.
- Monitor daily sales reports to ensure correct pricing is applied and profit targets are met.
- Work with quality and inside sales to evaluate and expedite customer claims.
- Make in-person visits and entertain customers appropriately to grow and maintain relationships.
- Provide market intelligence to customers and become a trusted partner.
- Understand our customers' businesses and move up the value chain within those customers.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge and understanding of sales principles.
- Knowledge of internal controls and procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of steel and other flat rolled metal products.
The estimated salary for this position is around $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
