Position Overview: The Purchasing Specialist plays a crucial role in overseeing the procurement activities to guarantee that top-notch materials and supplies are acquired at competitive rates. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, foster vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and keep track of inventory levels to ensure efficient support for manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, evaluate, and select suppliers based on their quality, pricing, and delivery capabilities.
  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Evaluate procurement requirements and inventory levels to place timely orders and effectively manage stock.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to achieve cost efficiencies and ensure prompt delivery of goods.
  • Stay updated on market trends, product innovations, and industry standards to adapt purchasing strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure that materials meet specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain precise purchasing records, including contracts, invoices, and supply agreements.
  • Conduct regular evaluations of supplier performance, quality, and adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of purchasing policies and procedures to enhance overall procurement efficiency.
  • Support budget management and cost analysis initiatives to identify potential savings opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Purchasing Specialist or in a comparable procurement role, ideally within a manufacturing context.
  • Strong grasp of supply chain and procurement processes, including inventory management and vendor evaluation.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities.
  • Proficient in procurement software and tools, along with MS Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and maintain positive vendor relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in supply chain management (e.g., APICS, ISM) is advantageous.
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with legal regulations and compliance related to procurement and contracts.
