Job Overview

Hino Motors Manufacturing is a leading OEM engaged in the assembly of trucks and automotive components across various locations. We are in search of a dedicated Procurement Specialist to join our Purchasing Team at our corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a specific range of commodities to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), focusing on supplier cost reductions, manufacturing enhancements, localization, value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE), quality improvements, and supply base development.
  • Formulate, execute, and oversee commodity strategies.
  • Conduct cost analyses to assess supplier competitiveness.
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of primary cost factors to effectively compare new quotations with existing prices and negotiate optimal component costs.
  • Create commodity cost projections to inform sourcing, negotiation, and supplier development strategies.
  • Experience in procuring components for electric vehicles is preferred.
  • Issue Purchase Orders for production components and tooling.
  • Maintain accurate procurement documentation, including non-disclosure agreements, requests for quotations (RFQs), supplier agreements, contracts, and recommendation sheets.
  • Lead negotiations with suppliers for assigned commodities.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to foster mutually beneficial, long-term partnerships.
  • Work internally and externally to identify and manage cost reduction initiatives through to completion.
  • Evaluate supply base performance and provide formal feedback during annual business reviews.
  • Act as a point of escalation for other departments regarding supply base issues.
  • Assist in the planning and support of new program launches and projects.
  • Develop the supply base in North America for localized parts.
  • Conduct supplier benchmarking activities.
  • May lead project teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the supply base to align with business objectives.
  • Engage with key stakeholders and manufacturing facilities to ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Support Product Planning and Engineering initiatives.
  • Encourage teamwork and collaboration with departments, including international teams.
  • Provide assistance to manufacturing facilities for both strategic and supplier performance challenges.
  • Regularly report progress to management.
  • Manage cost data by updating pricing information and resolving discrepancies in collaboration with buyers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree is preferred in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or Finance.
  • A minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience is required, with automotive experience being highly desirable.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational and data management capabilities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills.
  • Understanding of automotive manufacturing processes and costs is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with international customers/suppliers is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 20% is necessary.
