About the Role

Daifuku Airport America Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our procurement department, you will be responsible for purchasing materials, subcontracts, and services for our custom engineered or specialty items.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and procure items defined as custom engineered or specialty items used within the Daifuku Airport America Corp (DAAC) material handling system.
  • Authorize Purchase Orders up to $25,000, invoices discrepancies up to $5,000, and the sale of surplus disposable up to $10,000.
  • Review descriptions on Purchase Requisitions and solicit competitive bids in accordance with company policies.
  • Coordinate the technical review of vendor proposals with the Engineering Design Section.
  • Negotiate modifications in vendor's bids and consolidate or adjust quantities to achieve discounts or other price advantages.
  • Recommend successful vendors and issue Purchase Orders and/or Change Orders.
  • Negotiate claims or adjustments against vendors for defective material or non-performance.
  • Negotiate the most favorable pricing agreements.
  • Locate and encourage minority vendors to participate in on-going projects, vendor demonstrations, and the bidding process.
  • Arrange vendor demonstrations of select products for Engineering and other departments.
  • Expedite materials for projects as required to maintain project schedules.
  • Supply availability, lead time, and pricing information to Engineering for planning and procurement of materials.
  • Participate in the development of short and long-range departmental and corporate goals.
  • Visit vendor production facilities and DAAC project job sites as necessary to update contract status and negotiate new or revised project priorities or production schedules.
  • Accurately enter orders into the ERP System.
  • Participate in the identification of secondary materials, equipment, and sources of supply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Management, Materials and Logistics Management, Procurement, or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of significant experience in a Purchasing Department of a major manufacturer or service organization.
  • Optional: 2-4 years of significant experience within a defined engineered commodity group and/or contract administration.
  • Strong negotiation skills with knowledge of contract law, codes, and federal procurement policies.
  • Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and Impromptu. SAP knowledge desired.
