Position: VDOT Senior Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Richmond, VA

Interview: In-Person Only

Experience Required: 6 Years

On-Site Requirement: 1-2 Days per Week

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a strong background in managing Windows Server environments across both on-premises and cloud infrastructures. The successful candidate will demonstrate a solid history in:

  • Implementing and managing patching, backup, and migration processes.
  • Utilizing Active Directory effectively.
  • Providing support for various applications, including Java, .Net, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, and Warehouse technologies.
  • Delivering both server-level and custom application support.
  • Employing security tools such as Tenable and managing SCCM for automated patch management.
  • Configuring server security, including endpoint protection, with a robust understanding of networking principles and OSI layer protocols.
  • Executing disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage Windows Server in hybrid environments (both on-premises and cloud).
  • Provide insights on disaster recovery and infrastructure stability best practices.
  • Ensure regular patching and updates to maintain system security and reliability.
  • Oversee backup operations and recovery processes in critical environments.
  • Plan and execute server migrations, including transitioning workloads to the cloud.
  • Support a diverse range of frameworks and technologies, including .NET, Java, SQL, and Oracle.
  • Troubleshoot server-level issues for production applications.
  • Utilize security tools for vulnerability management.
  • Employ SCCM for efficient patch management and deployment.
  • Develop disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and safeguard data.
  • Demonstrate strong networking knowledge, including OSI layer functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address infrastructure needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Microsoft-focused certifications, such as Azure Administrator Associate or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate.
  • Networking certifications, such as Network+ or CCNA.
