Position Overview:
This is an unpaid internship opportunity designed for transitioning active-duty military personnel through the DoD SkillBridge Program. The internship aims to provide valuable hands-on experience in the field of Materials Engineering, aligning with the skills and training acquired during military service.

Internship Objectives:
The intern will engage in significant projects under the guidance of a designated supervisor, focusing on the foundational principles of Materials Engineering. The role will involve:
  • Active participation in special projects that enhance practical knowledge.
  • Collaboration with senior leadership and mentorship throughout the internship.

Learning Outcomes:
By the conclusion of the internship, the intern will have developed essential skills, including:
  • Characterization of materials and products using various analytical tools.
  • Interpretation of data collected from experiments.
  • Collaboration with the Geometry and Material Properties team.

Key Responsibilities:
The intern will be involved in:
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Preparation and analysis of test specimens.
  • Identification of testing procedures based on material requirements.
  • Preparation and review of technical analysis reports.

Training Schedule:
The internship will follow a structured training plan, including:
  • Week 1: Orientation and office familiarization.
  • Weeks 2-4: Introduction to team operations and safety procedures.
  • Weeks 5-9: Familiarization with various analytical instruments.
  • Weeks 10-13: Data collection, processing, and report generation.

Qualifications:
Applicants must be active-duty military personnel within their final 180 days of service, with a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering.

Physical Requirements:
Physical demands will vary based on the specific training activities.
