Position Overview

The University of Minnesota's Department of Surgery is seeking a dedicated Post-Doctoral Associate to join the Division of Outcomes and Precision Medicine Research. This full-time role involves engaging in cutting-edge research focused on microbiome studies, pharmacomicrobiomics, and their interactions with host immunity.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Research Execution (40%)
    - Design and conduct experiments while maintaining thorough documentation.
    - Analyze and interpret results in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
    - Prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication.
  2. Laboratory Development (25%)
    - Innovate and implement new research techniques and protocols.
    - Assess the feasibility of applying scientific theories to ongoing projects.
    - Develop advanced analytical models to support research objectives.
  3. Commitment to Scientific Advancement (30%)
    - Draft and submit scientific papers and abstracts.
    - Present research findings at conferences and seminars.
    - Contribute to grant writing and identify funding opportunities.
  4. Routine Laboratory Operations (5%)
    - Participate in training sessions and maintain laboratory equipment.

Qualifications

Required: A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field such as Medical Microbiology, Medical Biotechnology, or Immunology. Candidates should possess extensive research experience and demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills. A keen interest in conducting advanced laboratory experiments and contributing to their design is essential.


Preferred: Familiarity with techniques such as DNA extraction, PCR, cloning, ELISA, and flow cytometry. Experience in microbiome sequencing and bioinformatics analysis is advantageous. Candidates with a proven track record of publishing in high-impact journals will be given preference.
