Job Summary

As a Benefits Program Administrator at the Medical University of South Carolina, you will play a critical role in administering, directing, and reviewing employee benefit programs. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively mediate between benefits providers and employees, as well as to explain and interpret policies and procedures regarding benefits programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and direct employee benefit programs, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Mediate between benefits providers and employees to resolve benefits-related questions and concerns.
  • Explain and interpret policies and procedures regarding benefits programs to staff.
  • Communicate changes related to insurance and retirement rules, regulations, and processes to employees.
  • Serve as the lead benefits contact for employers offering state insurance and retirement benefits.
  • Participate in benefits new hire orientation and assist newly hired employees with the enrollment process.
  • Assist employees with self-service benefits portals and ensure complete benefit counseling experience.
  • Evaluate the needs of employees and accurately communicate all pertinent benefit information and options.
  • Oversee the distribution of continuation of healthcare benefits (COBRA) notices and manage open enrollment and related correspondence.
  • Host and deliver open enrollment sessions and audit data from HRIS systems and PEBA systems for accuracy.
