About the Role

Blue Origin is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer RF Avionics to join our team. As a key member of our New Glenn Avionics team, you will design, develop, and verify high-performance hardware for various flight vehicles. Your responsibilities will encompass electronic requirements, architecture concepts, detailed design, analysis, and development. You will also be responsible for developing low-cost next-generation radios for our future launch vehicles and mentoring/coaching other avionics engineers within the RF team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and verify high-performance hardware for various flight vehicles
  • Develop low-cost next-generation radios for our future launch vehicles
  • Mentor and coach other avionics engineers within the RF team
  • Develop and maintain avionics designs through formal verification, analysis, functional testing, environmental qualification, release, and documentation
  • Participate in flight support activities and collaborate with multi-functional teams such as mechanical, ground, and operations
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field
  • 10+ years of proven experience in the RF design of sophisticated aerospace/space hardware
  • Desire to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the design, verification, qualification, and production phases of the electronic product lifecycle
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our culture of inclusion
  • Working experience with software-defined radio (SDR) implementations of radio transceivers
  • Hands-on experience with RF testing equipment (Vector Network Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzers, signal generators, etc.)
  • Working experience with RF PCB design, layout, verification, fabrication, and testing
  • RF communication subsystem and/or component design, with a strong background in RF principles; specific focus on UHF and S-bands
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related subject areas
  • 15+ years proven experience in RF design, development, integration, test, and operation of avionics systems or vehicles
What We Offer

Blue Origin offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $167,088.00-$233,923.20, depending on location. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program. Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
