We are seeking a highly skilled Avionics Communications Systems Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electrical and avionics systems for our spaceflight systems.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical and avionics systems for spaceflight applications
- Integrate and test avionics hardware and software platforms
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to integrate firmware with other system components
- Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
- Design, develop, build, and integrate electrical/avionics integration hardware, software, and interconnect solutions
- Communicate risks, issues, and solutions to peers with various technical backgrounds and areas of expertise
- Perform data interpretation, assessment, and analysis of integrated electrical/avionics systems
- Bachelor of Science in electrical or aerospace engineering, physics, or related field
- Laboratory experience including ESD protocols, hardware handling, and rework documentation
- Experience using common laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power supplies, programmable loads, and general-purpose data acquisition systems
- Knowledge of RF components and concepts (radios, noise filters, amplifiers, RF integrated circuits, PCB layout, firmware, FPGAs, etc.)
- Experience planning and executing tests on software defined radios (SDR), antennas, and other RF systems for spacecraft communications
- 6+ years of experience working with electronics or electrical/electromechanical systems, including hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas: prototyping, design, integration, and/or test
- Understanding of safety-critical systems development (aerospace, medical, automotive)
- PCB design tools such as Cadence, Altium, or Mentor Graphics
- Soldering, PCB rework, crimping, harness/connector assembly
- Test equipment, test rack design, configuration management, data acquisition
- Familiarity with avionics standards and guidelines, such as DO-178 and DO-254
- Experience working across multiple frequency bands such as UHF, L, S, X, and Ka
We offer a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $136,800.00-$191,520.00, depending on location. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
