About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our New Shepard Avionics team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and verifying high-performance RF systems for our reusable suborbital rocket system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RF communication subsystems and components for our vehicle and ground station development and link.
  • Plan and define RF systems, including crafting RF link budgets, doing antenna placement planning, and performing site tests.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including mechanical, ground, and operations, to partner for the best design implementation solutions.
  • Develop and implement test procedures, as well as plan and execute all phases of testing (development, acceptance, and qualification).
  • Ensure compliance with IPC-A-600/610, DO-254, and similar standards for high-reliability safety-critical electronics.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in RF design of complex aerospace/space hardware.
  • Ability to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the design, verification, qualification, and production phases of the electronic product lifecycle.
  • Strong background in RF principles, including UHF and S-band RF.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related subject areas.
  • 15+ years proven experience in RF design, development, integration, test, and operation of avionics systems or vehicles.
  • Proven experience specifying and crafting high-reliability safety-critical electronics.
