About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our New Shepard Avionics team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and verifying high-performance RF systems for our reusable suborbital rocket system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop RF communication subsystems and components, with a strong background in RF principles and specific focus on UHF and S-band RF for vehicle and ground station development and link.
  • Plan and define RF systems, including crafting RF link budgets, doing antenna placement planning, and performing site tests.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, such as mechanical, ground, and operations, to partner for the best design implementation solutions.
  • Develop and implement test procedures, as well as plan and execute all phases of testing (development, acceptance, and qualification).
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including IPC-A-600/610 and DO-254.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related field.
  • 10+ years of proven experience in RF design and development of complex aerospace/space hardware.
  • Strong background in planning and defining RF systems, including RF link budgets and antenna placement planning.
  • Ability to work with multi-functional teams and collaborate with manufacturing engineers and production engineering.
  • Experience in grounding and general board layout principles, including EMI/EMC tradeoffs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Physics, or related subject areas.
  • 15+ years proven experience in RF design, development, integration, test, and operation of avionics systems or vehicles.
  • Proven experience specifying and crafting high reliability safety-critical electronics, familiarity with IPC-A-600/610 and DO-254.
  • Background with launch vehicle hardware development, integration, and test.
