Job Title: Technology Support Assistant, IT Services

Job Summary:

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Technology Support Assistant to join our IT Services team. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical support to our staff, students, and external entities, ensuring seamless IT operations and exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Technical Support Technicians, Specialists, and Coordinators with desktop support tasks.
  • Maintain IT inventory, including collecting and preparing end-of-life machines for salvage, organizing supplies and peripherals, and transporting equipment to storage locations.
  • Support IT events at various Texas Athletics events, including running cables, placing hardware, and helping media onto our network and stats feeds.
  • Image machines and make them ready for new users, deliver and set up equipment.
  • Identify needed repairs or maintenance on existing machines and work with helpdesk staff and vendors to process them.
  • Exemplify the core values and quality service standards of Texas Athletics, act ethically, and proactively seek guidance when unsure or unclear of a law, rule, or policy applicable to you or your department/sport program.

Requirements:

  • Clear and concise communication skills.
  • Ability to work at least three shifts of 4 or more consecutive hours per normal week.
  • High attention to detail, especially in following procedures.
  • Strong computer fluency.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively problem-solve.
  • Strong sense of task ownership and understanding when to escalate an issue.
  • Have strong organizing skills.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Windows, printers, record keeping, mobile phones, MS Office, O365 apps, and macOS.

Working Conditions:

  • May work in all weather conditions.
  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • May work around electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Use of manual dexterity.
  • Climbing of stairs.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

Work Shift:

  • Some evenings and weekends.
