Job Summary

The Department of Information Resources is seeking a high school volunteer to participate in the TechQuest: Empowering Future Innovators program. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of information technology and contribute to the success of our team.

Key Responsibilities

Participate in IT meetings and discussions regarding technology and cybersecurity
Assist with the setup of computers and other office equipment for employees
Support the installation of standard software and help resolve common hardware, software, and network connectivity issues
Shadow computer systems support work in a help desk setting
Observe the implementation of Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) software
Participate in gathering requirements for agency applications
Participate in cybersecurity incident detection analysis and prevention

Requirements

Must be a current high school student between the ages of 16 to 18
Must possess good standing high school academic records
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cordial working relationships at all organizational levels
Ability to understand, follow and convey brief oral and/or written instructions
Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner
Ability to comply with all agency policy and applicable laws
Ability to comply with all applicable safety rules, regulations, and standards
Proficiency in the use of a computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments

Working Conditions

Frequent use of computers, copiers, printers, and telephones
Frequent standing, walking, sitting, listening, and talking
Frequent work under stress, as a team member, and in direct contact with others
Occasional bending, stooping, lifting, and climbing
Occasional passenger in DIR's vehicles to visit other DIR offices or customer locations
