Steel Project Engineer

A well-established structural steel fabrication company, GPAC, is seeking a motivated individual with experience in structural steel fabrication to fill a Project Engineer role. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate detailing team to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Finalize RFI's and Change orders with designers and detailers to maintain project accuracy.
  • Verify that all drawings and models are stamped and compliant with regulations.
  • Determine and define the scope of work and deliverables to meet project requirements.
  • Predict resources needed to complete a project and manage costs effectively.
  • Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites to ensure project compliance.
  • Manage costs to meet a budget and provide direction over contracts and subcontracts.
  • Coordinate production schedules and requirements with the shop to ensure timely project completion.
  • Manage delivery schedule and activities to meet project deadlines.
  • Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines to stakeholders.
  • Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes.
  • Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships to maintain project quality.
  • Coordinate efforts across the entire project between architects, designers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project execution.
Requirements:
  • A 2-year degree in an engineering or construction-related field is preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts, and related construction documents, with an emphasis on structural drawings and steel shop drawings.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • Excellent basic math and algebra skills to manage project costs and resources.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment to make informed project decisions.
