Your Role:

We are seeking a Sanctions Team Lead to spearhead our newly established Sanctions team in Austin. The primary objective of this team is to evaluate Wise customers against sanctioned entities and conduct thorough investigations on any alerts generated.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Sanctions Team Lead, your contributions will include:

  • Recruiting, guiding, and overseeing a Sanctions team, while managing administrative duties such as scheduling, interviewing, and organizing team events.
  • Assessing team performance metrics, planning resource allocation, and ensuring a strong focus on customer satisfaction while managing various projects.
  • Creating efficient operational workflows, assigning tasks, providing training, and managing performance to enhance customer experiences while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with Wise's Quality Assurance team to uphold high standards in sanctions checks performed by the team.
  • Making informed decisions within our policy framework and working alongside compliance to refine our policies and procedures.
  • Educating the team on regulatory requirements, demonstrating how our policies align with these obligations, and implementing a risk-based strategy to combat money laundering and financial crime.
  • Representing our policies, processes, and verifiable screening efforts to regulatory bodies and auditors.
  • Coordinating with third-party management, outsourcing partners, product teams, and customer support to assess the operational impact of changes and identify opportunities for enhancing customer experiences, increasing automation, or improving operational efficiencies.
Qualifications:

About You:

  • You are legally authorized to work in the US and do not require visa sponsorship for this position.
  • You possess management experience in operations or compliance.
  • You have a background in the financial sector, compliance, or a related field, providing you with strong compliance knowledge and a solid understanding of the regulatory landscape; experience with sanctions is highly advantageous.
  • You are adept at multitasking and can take initiative in various situations.
  • You excel at building and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • You possess excellent communication and presentation skills, facilitating internal and external projects and audits.
  • You have a solid grasp of team metrics and the ability to analyze and improve them.
  • You have a proven history of taking ownership and being a collaborative team player.
  • You are comfortable interpreting legal and regulatory documents, developing strategies for informed decision-making, and executing plans successfully.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and can maintain focus under pressure.
