We are seeking a dedicated Sanctions Investigator to become a vital part of our newly formed Sanctions Investigation team. This position presents a remarkable opportunity to influence Wise's mission, enhance your expertise in sanctions compliance, and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.

Your Role:
The Sanctions Investigator is responsible for evaluating alerts escalated from analysts and determining the necessary actions. In this capacity, you will assess any sanctions-related issues concerning our clients or their transactions. A solid understanding of sanctions and transaction monitoring, along with precise decision-making skills, is crucial for success in this role.

Your Mission:
Wise has revolutionized the way individuals transfer funds across borders and currencies. Our platform allows customers to manage their finances with the first true multi-currency banking service. Your mission is to safeguard both our customers and Wise by evaluating alerts generated by our sanctions screening systems for any potential sanctions issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to operational protocols for managing escalated sanctions alerts, ensuring thorough documentation of decision-making processes. Speed and accuracy are paramount.
  • Analyze potential matches against sanctions lists identified through customer and transaction screening.
  • Review escalated cases from Sanctions Analysts and escalate confirmed matches for compliance reporting.
  • Engage with customers to gather additional information as necessary during the review process.
  • Contribute to refining automated sanctions screening methodologies to minimize false positives and enhance customer experience.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations on alerts, employing a risk-based approach in accordance with operational guidelines.
  • Identify areas for improvement in processes, procedures, tools, and systems, collaborating with team leads and specialists to implement solutions.
  • Share insights with analysts and provide constructive feedback on their case management.
  • Take ownership of cases and projects, demonstrating accountability and a commitment to knowledge sharing.
