Position Overview:

The Transportation Equipment Technician is responsible for the upkeep and repair of mechanical vehicles to ensure the safe distribution of all company products.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.
  • A one-year certificate from a college or technical institution; or one year of relevant experience and/or training in general vehicle maintenance and repair; or a suitable combination of education and experience.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read, write, perform basic mathematical calculations, and accurately document data is essential.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and various shifts as needed.
  • Capability to frequently stand, walk, kneel, reach, climb, pull, and bend with full body motion.
  • Ability to frequently lift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently and/or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and a systematic approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving are required.

Certifications and Licenses:

  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Class A or B commercial driver's license permit within 6 months of employment (must hold a valid Class CDL-A or B and Medical Examiners Certificate in accordance with FMCSA regulations prior to operating a commercial vehicle).
  • Must possess or be able to obtain all necessary EPA licenses and/or certifications relevant to the field, including but not limited to EPA Clean Air Act Section 608 Type II and EPA Clean Air Act Section 609 MVAC certifications within 3 months.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Brake Inspector Certification as defined in FMCSA regulations within 3 months.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Annual Inspector Certification as defined in FMCSA regulations within 3 months.

Working Environment:

  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures, both indoors and outdoors, and on mechanical vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance inspections and servicing on mechanical vehicles in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company protocols.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting and minor repairs on mechanical vehicles, including but not limited to: electrical systems, powertrain, air and brake systems, suspension systems, and tire maintenance.
  • Adhere to all company work and safety regulations as well as compliance rules and regulations.
  • Utilize all personal protective equipment in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Possess the necessary personal tools to fulfill job duties.
