Position Overview:

The role of the Electrical Technician encompasses routine diagnostics and upkeep of electrical systems, alongside the repair of equipment and facilities as required. This position involves the installation, disassembly, inspection, repair, and replacement of defective components across a variety of electrical devices and infrastructures. The Electrical Technician will apply essential technical principles to identify issues with system equipment, execute necessary repairs, coordinate additional diagnostic or repair support, and conduct regular maintenance assessments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install cabling and connect to enclosures, operator boxes, and building penetrations.
  • Wire and install low voltage (up to 480 VAC-3 Phase) switch panels and disconnects.
  • Set up and wire emergency lighting fixtures.
  • Perform terminations of multi-conductor cables in panels.
  • Utilize test instruments such as Analog and Digital Multimeters, A/C and D/C Clamp Ammeters, and Meggers to interpret readings.
  • Install, wire, and troubleshoot Motor Control Center devices.
  • Diagnose and replace electrical motors.
  • Install wiring and troubleshoot both permanent and temporary transformers.
  • Collaborate and communicate with production personnel regarding ongoing and future work operations.
  • Oversee and guide other electrical personnel on contracted construction projects.
  • Receive directives and assignments from the Area Lead Automation/Electrical Technician.
  • Plan cable routes and installation strategies.
  • Determine appropriate electrical installations based on area classification.
  • Design and execute installations of cable trays.
  • Generate material take-offs for repairs or special projects and create material requisitions.
  • Conduct daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Maintain a sufficient inventory of spare parts to meet maintenance needs and ensure safe and efficient operations.

Foster a professional and respectful atmosphere while working within a team. Manage multiple projects at various stages concurrently. Prioritize daily tasks effectively and demonstrate strong time management capabilities. Possess a solid understanding of basic wiring principles and the ability to interpret electrical connection diagrams for standard systems. Have a foundational knowledge of the oil and gas sector.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate is required. Completion of military technical school or vocational training courses, or equivalent education and experience is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in electrical maintenance, particularly in offshore production or drilling rig environments, is desirable.
