Bakery Operations Manager

The Commercial Bakery Production Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient operation of our bakery production process. This includes overseeing all aspects of production, from managing staff and resources to maintaining high-quality products and adhering to safety and sanitation standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the bakery director to receive and implement directions.
  • Supervise and communicate with production employees, providing guidance, feedback, and support to ensure they meet job expectations.
  • Manage daily staffing, including finding replacements, calling in extra staff, and ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Assist in employee training, development, and evaluations, working closely with the HR department.
  • Oversee quality control, ensuring consistency in products, sanitation, and inventory management.
  • Identify and address defective supplies, equipment, and unusual conditions.
  • Manage food inventory, particularly refrigerated and frozen storage.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Strive to increase sales, control labor costs, and maintain professional management practices.
  • Act as a liaison between retail management and production employees, mediating product availability, quality, and discounting.
  • Communicate staffing needs and assist in resolving customer complaints.
  • Perform other related bakery operations management duties, including generating production sheets and managing large or special orders.
  • Attend industry events to stay informed about new ideas, products, and best practices.
  • Be prepared to cover labor shortages and perform various production tasks.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • At least one year of combined experience in bakery production roles.
  • Meet or exceed job function requirements within the introductory period.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry objects of light to medium weight, as defined by the United States Department of Labor.
  • Must be able to push carts, pull hand jacks, and stand for extended periods.
  • Active role requiring walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching.
