Sanitation Operations Manager

The Sanitation Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily sanitation activities, financial management, and team coordination across various facilities. This position entails executing a variety of responsibilities before, during, and after sanitation shifts. The Area Manager is tasked with ensuring that Site Managers, sanitation crews, and the operational floor are adequately prepared for sanitation processes, while also ensuring that all teams operate safely and efficiently. Additionally, this individual will accompany inspectors during regulatory evaluations.
This role requires direct oversight of the site's financials, necessitating regular monitoring to avoid budget overruns. The Area Manager will also track the site's Food Safety and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure compliance with company standards. Strong leadership skills are essential, as this individual will guide multiple managers and a large team of hourly associates and supervisors towards achieving common objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with maintenance staff pre-shift to ensure sanitation readiness. Provide training on group lockout, chemical handling, and fundamental sanitation practices to new supervisors and employees.
- Support a designated region of food processing facilities, including travel and overnight stays as necessary.
- Participate in monthly customer meetings to maintain strong relationships and high satisfaction levels.
- Assist in organizing meetings with potential clients, conducting plant tours, and participating in new business proposals.
- Ensure that all sanitation team members and supervisors are properly staffed, trained, and equipped with the necessary tools and personal protective equipment for safe and effective job performance.
- Communicate and enforce all required safety protocols to the team under supervision.
- Conduct inspections of the equipment cleaned and sanitized by the assigned crew before, during, and after sanitation operations.
- Verify and approve the reporting and departure times of the entire sanitation crew.
- Accompany Quality Assurance and USDA inspectors during Pre-Operational inspections when present on-site.
- Maintain open communication with the customer's management team regarding sanitation operations.
- Align staffing on the floor to ensure a timely sanitation process and adjust as necessary for short crews.
- Complete required reports and communicate effectively with customer personnel.
- Monitor weekly timecards and attendance of employees.
- Maintain records related to sanitation processes, deficiencies, and employee training.
- Implement the company's progressive discipline policy when necessary.
- Administer Lock Out Tag Out procedures to secure facility equipment during sanitation operations.
- Occasionally operate specialized equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts after receiving appropriate training.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of sanitary restoration processes and industrial safety practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out and HAZCOMM. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is essential.
Preferred Skills:
- Bi-lingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.
