The Sanitation Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily sanitation activities, financial planning, and team management across various facilities. This position involves executing a range of responsibilities before, during, and after sanitation shifts. The Area Manager is tasked with ensuring that Site Managers, sanitation crews, and the production floor are adequately prepared for sanitation processes, while also ensuring that all teams operate safely and efficiently. Additionally, this individual will collaborate with inspectors during compliance audits and maintain direct oversight of the facility's budgets, monitoring them regularly to avoid excess expenditures.
The Area Manager will also be responsible for tracking the site's Food Safety and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure adherence to company standards. Strong leadership skills are essential, as this role requires guiding multiple managers and a large team of hourly employees and supervisors towards a unified objective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with maintenance teams before shifts to ensure the sanitation area is prepared. Provide training on lockout procedures, chemical safety, and fundamental sanitation practices to new supervisors and staff.
- Support a designated region of food processing facilities, including travel and overnight stays as necessary.
- Participate in monthly customer meetings to strengthen relationships and enhance satisfaction.
- Assist in organizing meetings with potential clients, conducting plant tours, and engaging in new business proposals.
- Ensure that all sanitation team members and supervisors are properly staffed, trained, and equipped with the necessary tools and personal protective equipment to perform their duties safely and effectively.
- Communicate and enforce all required safety protocols to the team under supervision.
- Conduct inspections of the equipment cleaned and sanitized by the assigned crew, both during and after the sanitation process.
- Verify and approve the reporting and departure times of the entire sanitation crew.
- Accompany quality assurance and regulatory inspectors during pre-operational inspections when present on-site.
- Maintain open communication with the customer’s management team regarding sanitation operations.
- Align staffing levels on the production floor to ensure an efficient sanitation process, adjusting as necessary for short crews.
- Complete necessary reporting and maintain effective communication with customer personnel.
- Monitor weekly timecards and attendance records of employees.
- Keep detailed records of sanitation processes, deficiencies, and employee training.
- Implement the company's progressive discipline policy when required.
- Administer Lock Out Tag Out procedures to secure equipment during sanitation operations.
- Occasionally operate specialized equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts, following appropriate training.
- Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Comprehensive knowledge of sanitary restoration processes and industrial safety practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out and HAZCOMM. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is essential.
Preferred Skills:
- Bi-lingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.
