The Sanitation Operations Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the daily sanitation activities, financial management, and team leadership across various facilities. This position entails executing a range of responsibilities before, during, and after sanitation shifts. The Manager will ensure that Site Managers and sanitation crews are adequately prepared, that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently, and that regulatory audits are navigated successfully.

This individual will have direct responsibility for managing the facility's budgets, necessitating regular monitoring to avoid financial overruns. Additionally, the Manager will track Food Safety and Safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure adherence to corporate standards. Strong leadership skills are essential for guiding multiple managers and a large team of hourly workers and supervisors towards common objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with maintenance teams pre-shift to ensure sanitation readiness. Provide training on lockout procedures, chemical safety, and fundamental sanitation practices to new supervisors and staff.
  • Support a designated region of food processing facilities, including travel and overnight stays as required.
  • Participate in monthly client meetings to maintain strong relationships and high satisfaction levels.
  • Assist in organizing meetings with prospective clients, conducting plant tours, and engaging in new business proposals.
  • Ensure that all sanitation team members and supervisors are properly staffed, trained, and equipped with the necessary tools and personal protective equipment to perform their duties safely and effectively.
  • Communicate and enforce all required safety protocols to the assigned team.
  • Conduct inspections of the equipment cleaned and sanitized by the crew, both during and after the sanitation process.
  • Review and approve the reporting and departure times of the entire sanitation crew.
  • Accompany Quality Assurance and USDA inspectors during Pre-Operational inspections when on-site.
  • Maintain open communication with the client's management team regarding sanitation operations.
  • Adjust floor staffing to ensure an efficient sanitation process and accommodate short crews as necessary.
  • Complete necessary reports and communicate effectively with client personnel.
  • Monitor weekly timecards and attendance of employees.
  • Keep records of sanitation processes, deficiencies, and employee training.
  • Implement the company's progressive discipline policy when required.
  • Administer Lock Out Tag Out procedures to secure facility equipment during sanitation operations.
  • May occasionally operate specialized equipment such as forklifts or scissor lifts, following appropriate training.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of sanitary restoration processes and industrial safety practices, including Lock Out/Tag Out and HAZCOMM. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is essential.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bi-lingual candidates (English/Spanish) are highly preferred.

  • Monday to Friday with weekend availability as needed

Experience:

  • Management: 5 years (Required)
  • Food Processing USDA/FDA Sanitation: 5 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Valid Driver's License (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 80% travel required

Work Location: Travel within the designated region.
