Position Overview

The Business Development Manager plays a crucial role in fostering the profitable expansion of Executive Education offerings, conferences, and various projects tailored for clients. This is achieved through proactive prospecting, effective client management, and relationship-driven strategies.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement strategic account plans for a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring the growth of partnerships with the university.

2. Dedicate significant time to identifying new business opportunities, which includes following up on incoming leads, making outbound calls, leveraging connections through alumni, and engaging in local networking events.

3. Advance opportunities through the development pipeline by building relationships, crafting and presenting proposals, establishing pricing structures, coordinating with faculty, and maintaining accurate records of account progress.

4. Utilize Salesforce to document activities, manage a consistent pipeline of potential partnerships, and comply with all internal documentation and regulatory requirements.

5. Build and nurture partnerships with key stakeholders, including client organizations, participants, faculty, and staff, to optimize the use of executive education programs.

6. Demonstrate strong negotiation skills to create mutually beneficial agreements with clients.

7. Collaborate with program coordinators to design offerings for clients, which may involve project management tasks.

8. Attend courses to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and to gain a comprehensive understanding of the curriculum.

9. Actively manage and report on the opportunity pipeline, including business status, key activities, and any changes within customer organizations.

10. Provide accurate revenue forecasts and consistently meet sales targets.

11. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and competitor strategies, adapting executive education offerings to meet evolving market demands.

12. Pursue strategic collaborations with other academic institutions and industry associations to enhance the organization's network and impact.


Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is required, along with four years of progressively responsible experience in a related area. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential.

A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.


Preferred Skills

Experience in selling services to medium and large enterprises, particularly to C-level executives, is highly desirable.

Strong understanding of leadership, professional development, strategic thinking, and consultative selling is critical for success in this role.

Familiarity with Salesforce and proficiency in office applications, social media marketing, and analytics platforms will be advantageous.

Knowledge of Executive Education programs and key management topics is beneficial.


Work Environment

This position requires in-person attendance and may involve flexible working hours to accommodate client needs.
