Position Overview: The Indiana Conservation Fund is seeking a dedicated Community Organizer who is fluent in Spanish. This role is pivotal in leading initiatives focused on voter engagement, climate justice, and clean energy education within Hispanic communities across Indiana.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a representative for energy and justice initiatives within the community.
  • Facilitate the registration of 2,000 new voters and integrate them into the organization's membership.
  • Develop an online community through social media platforms, primarily in Spanish, to connect residents with local resources and highlight community achievements.
  • Identify, train, and support a Spanish-speaking advocate for clean energy and environmental justice to serve on a Rural Electric Membership Cooperative board.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to secure diverse funding sources to sustain these initiatives.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues on shared issues, contributing innovative solutions and insights.

Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • A minimum of one year of experience in environmental advocacy.
  • Strong connections to the Hispanic community in Indiana.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for creating impactful work.
  • Commitment to environmental issues and advocacy for the well-being of all Hoosiers.
  • Ability to learn quickly across various topics.
  • Preference for managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative problem-solver who thrives in a flexible environment.
  • Capability to simplify complex topics into actionable steps.
  • Ability to work remotely and report to a supervisor based in Indianapolis.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to educate others.
  • Strong focus on achieving clear goals and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency in addressing Hispanic community issues.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established relationships with environmental NGOs and local government staff.
  • Knowledge of clean energy policies and environmental justice issues.
  • Experience in political campaign work.
  • Ability to manage budgets and track expenses.
  • Extensive experience organizing within Hispanic communities in Indiana.
  • Understanding of the distinctions between 501c3 and 501c4 activities.

Compensation: Salary is set at $50,000 with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as retirement savings options and unlimited paid time off.
