Mission: Our organization aims to hold Indiana's elected officials accountable, ensuring that all Hoosiers have access to clean energy, air, and water. We envision a state where the voices of voters and impacted communities are prioritized, fostering a movement that demands governmental responsibility towards environmental stewardship.

Reporting Structure: The Organizer will report directly to the Community & Government Affairs Manager. This is a full-time, two-year position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a representative for energy and justice initiatives within the community.
  • Facilitate the registration of 2,000 new voters, integrating them into the organization's membership.
  • Develop an online community among local residents through platforms like WhatsApp or Facebook, primarily in Spanish, to connect them with community resources and highlight local achievements.
  • Identify, train, and support a Spanish-speaking advocate for clean energy and environmental justice to join a Rural Electric Membership Cooperative board.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to secure diverse funding sources to ensure the sustainability of initiatives.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues on shared objectives, contributing innovative ideas and solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • A minimum of one year of experience in environmental advocacy.
  • Strong connections to the Hispanic community in Indiana.
  • Self-motivated individual with a passion for environmental issues.
  • Ability to learn quickly across various topics.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative problem-solver with a willingness to experiment and innovate.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of educating others and establishing authority.
  • Ability to work remotely while maintaining effective communication with supervisors.
  • Commitment to meeting deadlines and achieving measurable outcomes.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency regarding Hispanic community issues.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established relationships with environmental NGOs and local government officials.
  • Knowledge of clean energy policies and environmental justice issues.
  • Experience in political campaign efforts.
  • Ability to manage budgets and track financial expenditures.
  • Extensive experience organizing within Hispanic communities in Indiana.
  • Understanding of the distinctions between 501c3 and 501c4 activities.

Compensation: The position offers a salary of $50,000, along with benefits including medical, dental, and vision coverage, eligibility for a SEP IRA, and unlimited PTO.
