Job Summary

The Simons Foundation is seeking a Human Resources Manager to oversee and manage HR-related matters across our scientific research organization, the Flatiron Institute. Reporting to the HR Director, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for managing the recruitment and onboarding processes of scientific research positions, resolving employee relations issues, and managing the immigration process for foreign national new hires and employees.

This position requires a dynamic individual with exceptional organizational skills, a thorough understanding of HR best practices, and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.

The HR Manager should possess strong oral and written communication skills, facilitating and delivering HR programs such as manager training, orientation workshops, and new hire offer calls. Solid customer service, technology, and administrative skills are a must in this position.

The HR Manager will also contribute to special projects within the Flatiron Institute to support topics such as employee engagement and performance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with HR Director to address, support, and resolve employment and human resources matters across the Flatiron Institute.
  • Support recruitment for Flatiron Institute positions at all levels, partnering with HR talent team and Flatiron Institute hiring managers and center administrators.
  • Manage the visa and green card sponsorship processes, in partnership with HR Director, external vendors, and immigration attorneys, to ensure all foreign national new hires and existing employees have appropriate work authorization.
  • Manage the Flatiron Institute onboarding process, including conducting offer calls, creating positions in HRIS, and issuing offer letters.
  • Manage and facilitate engagement activities, specific to Flatiron Institute, including in-house trainings, professional development, and social events.
  • Participate in and/or lead HR-related special projects and report on an ongoing or ad hoc basis.
  • Identify and implement streamlined operations and efficiencies.

Requirements

  • B.A. or B.S. degree required; a master's degree is highly desired.
  • At least 7 years of relevant human resources experience or related field, including experience in a college, university, or research environment.
  • Strong understanding of HR laws, guiding principles, and best practices.
  • Experience working with an HRIS, including supporting system enhancements and implementations.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, and the ability to manage projects to completion.

Benefits

The full-time annual compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $120,000, depending on experience. In addition to competitive salaries, the Simons Foundation provides employees with an outstanding benefits package.
