Campaign Research Intern

Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid work model)
Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt
Compensation: $20/hour, up to 40 hours per week
The Hub Project is a nonprofit organization established to empower communities through strategic communications, research, and advocacy. Our mission is to foster a society where everyone can thrive economically and politically, collaborating with various advocacy groups to create impactful campaigns.
Role Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated intern to assist in our campaign focused on defending reproductive rights. This role will involve educating the public about the ongoing challenges to these rights and sharing personal narratives that highlight the serious implications of restrictive policies. Our approach combines grassroots mobilization, thorough research, and targeted media strategies to support the objectives of The Hub Project and its partners. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, proactive, and ready to engage with a dynamic and evolving media landscape.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth policy research and distill complex information into accessible formats for various audiences.
- Assist in the creation of press materials, including media advisories, press releases, opinion pieces, and digital content.
- Support outreach efforts for storyteller recruitment.
- Monitor media coverage, compiling daily news summaries and tracking relevant stories.
- Develop and maintain targeted media contact lists.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
Candidate Profile:
- Demonstrated passion for progressive issues.
- Exceptional writing skills with the ability to represent diverse perspectives, particularly from marginalized communities.
- Strong research capabilities with a knack for summarizing information clearly and effectively.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
- Detail-oriented and well-organized.
- Familiarity with current events and the media landscape.
- Commitment to equity and justice in professional endeavors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in drafting press materials and developing media lists.
- Background in working on advocacy campaigns or with nonprofit organizations.
