Job Description:

AARP is seeking master's-level graduate students pursuing a degree in Library & Information Science, Research, or a related field for an internship opportunity with the dynamic AARP Library & Strategic Services team. This internship will provide hands-on experience conducting, interpreting, and synthesizing secondary research findings using innovative databases. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, build web pages, and gain valuable technical services skills. At the end of the internship, various job options within the library field may become available. AARP is committed to growth and continuous learning for interns.

Responsibilities:
  • Synthesize research findings from various resources
  • Conduct literature reviews and market scans
  • Support technical services activities
  • Distribute research to internal stakeholders
  • Provide face-to-face interactions at the Library's Reference Desk
  • Manage multiple projects and handle ad-hoc research requests
  • Explore emerging technologies in the AARP Library collection
Qualifications:
  • Enrollment in a Master's-level degree program in Library and Information Science or related field
  • Excellent research and legal search skills
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong commitment to customer service
  • Advanced computer skills

Work Environment:

AARP offers a hybrid work environment with remote workdays on Mondays and Fridays. Remote work is only permitted within the United States and its territories.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly range varies based on academic level. Internships are non-exempt positions and do not include employee benefits.
