Position Overview

Reports to: Associate Director of Research

Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid - 3 days in office & 2 days remote each week)

Status: Full-Time; Non-Exempt

Compensation: $20/hour not to exceed 40 hours/week

The Hub Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals through advocacy and research. Our mission is to foster a society where everyone can thrive economically and engage actively in democratic processes. We collaborate with advocacy groups to enhance campaign strategies and create impactful initiatives.

Role Summary:

We are currently seeking a dedicated intern to join our Free & Just campaign, aimed at countering challenges to reproductive rights. This role involves educating the public about the implications of these challenges and sharing personal narratives that highlight the effects of abortion restrictions. Our approach combines grassroots mobilization, thorough research, and strategic media outreach to support our objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth policy research and distill complex information into accessible formats for broader dissemination.
  • Assist in the creation of press materials, including media advisories, press releases, opinion pieces, and digital content.
  • Support outreach efforts for storyteller recruitment.
  • Monitor media coverage, compiling daily news summaries and tracking relevant stories.
  • Develop and maintain targeted media contact lists.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.

Candidate Profile:

  • Demonstrated passion for progressive issues.
  • Exceptional writing skills with an ability to reflect diverse community perspectives, particularly those of marginalized groups.
  • Strong research capabilities with a knack for summarizing information clearly and concisely.
  • Proficient in multitasking, prioritizing effectively, and meeting deadlines.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Familiarity with current events and the media landscape.
  • Commitment to equity and justice in professional endeavors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in drafting press materials, creating media lists, and developing campaign messaging.
  • Background in working on progressive advocacy campaigns or within related organizations.
