Pharmacist Leader in Critical Care

The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Critical Care is a key member of the healthcare team, responsible for developing and implementing clinical pharmacy programs to enhance patient care and reduce costs. This position provides critical care services to patients and healthcare professionals, working collaboratively with medical staff to optimize drug utilization and cost containment.
Key Responsibilities- Leadership and Collaboration
- Develop and maintain effective communication systems with staff to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Serve as a role model for competent professional practice, educating, mentoring, and supporting pharmacy students, staff, residents, and peers.
- Clinical Expertise
- Identify opportunities for cost containment and improve clinical pharmacy services.
- Effectively plan and manage resources for continuity of care between the patient care area, pharmacy, and other settings.
- Education and Development
- Participate in orientation and continuing education programs to stay current with best practices.
- Serve as a resource to pharmacy staff, physicians, and nurses, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Research and Quality Improvement
- Assist with clinical research and development of utilization reviews and cost containment programs.
- Provide direction and guidance for development and review of clinical pharmacy educational services.
- Student and Resident Oversight
- Oversee the clinical students/residency program, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
- Quality and Safety
- Ensure safe care to patients, staff, and visitors, adhering to all organizational policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
- Professional Growth and Development
- Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and serving as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Service Excellence
- Demonstrate commitment to creating compassionate and personalized experiences for patients and colleagues, in alignment with organizational service standards.
- Education: Bachelor of Science with equivalent experience or clinically oriented Master of Science degree accepted or Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.
- Licenses/Certifications: Licensure in the state of Texas; Pharmacy Sterile Product certification through an in-house program or other accredited program if appropriate.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Ability to promote teamwork, build effective relationships, and to lead/facilitate work groups. Strong customer service skills. Knowledge of pharmacy and hospital computer systems and computer-assisted devices. Familiarity with healthcare reimbursement environment.
