POSITION OVERVIEW

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescribed medications, drugs, and other pharmaceuticals while compounding medications in accordance with established professional standards and practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduation from an ACPE accredited pharmacy program at a recognized college or university.
  • Current licensure by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
  • Preferred knowledge in pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria interpretation, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapeutics.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in PC usage, including word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and promptness are essential.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Exemplifies the WMH Transformation for Success, focusing on quality service delivery to patients and clients.
  • Reviews medication orders or prescriptions, accurately compounding medications in appropriate dosage forms, and ensuring proper packaging and dispensing of pre-manufactured dosage forms.
  • Oversees the systems for the storage, preparation, and dispensing of medicinal agents, utilizing appropriate techniques and adhering to health system policies; supervises technical personnel involved in these processes.
  • Provides educational sessions on rational medication therapy and procedures to healthcare professionals, students, patients, and the public.
  • Conducts literature retrieval, analysis, evaluation, and interpretation to deliver precise, relevant, and timely drug information to healthcare professionals.
  • Designs, implements, monitors, evaluates, and intervenes in patient pharmacotherapy to guarantee effective, safe, and economical patient care.
  • Utilizes clinical pharmacokinetic data to formulate effective, safe, and cost-efficient therapeutic medication regimens.
  • Enhances professional skills through ongoing education and manages personal professional practice, including time management, ethical standards, attendance, punctuality, and customer focus.
  • Contributes to the establishment of departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
