Advanced Clinical Nurse Leader

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) operates as an advanced practitioner, delivering and overseeing care for patients, families, and communities within a specific healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Evidence-Based Practice:
- Facilitates comprehensive, evidence-driven education for patients and families, addressing social and psychological barriers to care.
- Assesses and implements evidence-based methodologies to enhance outcomes within the healthcare environment.
- Collaborates in the creation and evaluation of care protocols and best practices tailored to patient needs.
- Engages in the education and competency validation of staff, providing mentorship and support through departmental initiatives.
Relationship Management:
- Acts as an advocate for patient care coordination across the healthcare system.
- Works collaboratively to address complex patient and family objectives to enhance health outcomes.
- Reviews and refines patient care strategies in conjunction with interdisciplinary teams to meet individual goals.
- Identifies and addresses variances in patient care processes, developing tailored plans to mitigate barriers.
Critical Analysis:
- Recognizes safety factors affecting patients and staff, implementing strategies to ensure a secure care environment.
- Guides staff and students in developing critical thinking skills essential for managing complex patient scenarios.
Technical Proficiency:
- Collaborates to design and implement innovative processes and technologies to enhance patient care.
- Evaluates specific patient cases for compliance with nursing standards, reporting findings to leadership.
- Partners in developing educational programs to foster clinical expertise among staff.
Leadership:
- Maintains open communication with leadership to identify trends affecting quality care delivery.
- Participates in initiatives to uphold accreditation standards and enhance organizational designations.
- Supports academic programs to enrich educational experiences for staff.
- Facilitates care coordination activities to streamline patient transitions through the healthcare continuum.
- Serves as a role model, recognizing and encouraging professional development among peers.
Qualifications:
- Active Professional Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Graduate degree in nursing.
- National certification as Clinical Nurse Leader is required upon hire unless enrolled in a relevant nursing program.
- Minimum of two years of relevant nursing experience.
- BLS and other emergency care certifications as applicable.
- Current knowledge of evidence-based clinical practices.
- Proven success in leading quality improvement initiatives.
- Effective communication skills and ability to manage time efficiently.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to respond to patient needs.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to navigate electronic medical records.
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge relevant to population-specific care.
- Ability to synthesize evidence for informed decision-making to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
