Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and interpret medication orders and prescriptions to ensure accurate and safe medication administration.
- Compound medications in age-appropriate and acceptable dosage forms, and package and dispense pre-manufactured dosage forms.
- Manage the storage, preparation, and dispensing of medicinal agents, adhering to health system policies and procedures.
- Provide education and in-services on rational medication therapy and medication procedures to healthcare professionals, students, patients, and the public.
- Retrieve, analyze, evaluate, and interpret scientific literature to provide accurate and timely drug information responses to healthcare professionals.
- Design, implement, monitor, evaluate, and intervene in patient pharmacotherapy to ensure effective, safe, and economical patient care.
- Apply clinical pharmacokinetic data to design effective, safe, and economical therapeutic medication regimens.
- Enhance skill sets through continuing education and professional development.
- Manage own professional practice, including time, professional ethics, attendance, and punctuality, and demonstrate a customer-focused approach.
- Participate in implementing goals and objectives, and policies and procedures for the department.
- Graduate of an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy at a college or university.
- Licensed by the State Board of Pharmacy.
- One year of experience in hospital pharmacy.
- Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacotherapeutics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with PCs and word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Able to maintain total confidentiality of all patient records.
