POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in applying established accounting standards and practices to evaluate financial data, generate precise and timely financial reports, and uphold essential accounting control measures. As a member of the Diocese of Orlando's financial team, this role is integral in assisting the organization in achieving its financial objectives through a methodical and disciplined approach to reconciliations, variance assessments, and financial statement evaluations, ensuring prompt and accurate monthly reporting. This position also guarantees that the weekly processing of accounts payable, cash receipts, and other journal entries are executed in accordance with the established weekly workflow protocols for all assigned entities.

The Lead Financial Analyst will oversee a team of three (3) staff accountants, providing hands-on guidance in processing payable invoices, managing payments, recording cash receipts, preparing payroll journal entries, conducting bank account reconciliations, and reconciling general ledger accounts. Additionally, this role is responsible for onboarding and training new staff accountants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Core Responsibilities:
  • Verify, allocate, and review general ledger reconciliations and schedules.
  • Ensure that reports, postings, reconciliations, and payments are processed in compliance with internal controls and procedures, aligning with general accounting principles.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of transaction postings within the general ledger.
  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for reconciliations, Balance Sheet reviews, and weekly core team processes.
  • Handle more complex journal entries and reconciliations as required.
  • Prepare and finalize the DSAS Financial Library at the end of each month.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Serve as a backup for other Senior Accountants in accounting, reporting, processing, and delivering key reports.
  • Identify risks and opportunities for process improvements and propose solutions.
  • Engage in special projects as assigned.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and support team collaboration.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A bachelor's degree in a business-related field, such as business administration, finance, or accounting, along with a minimum of four (4) years of general accounting experience, is required. A CPA designation or active pursuit of one is preferred.

This position necessitates strong experience in system integrity review and internal analysis. Successful execution of job duties requires attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Word, PowerPoint, and other cloud-based software. Advanced knowledge of Excel, including macros and pivot tables, is preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may require availability beyond standard working hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary. The individual must be able to perform well under stress and manage pressure effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to sit and stand for extended periods is essential. Must be able to reach, grasp, feel, and see both close-up and at a distance. Proficiency in using basic office computer hardware and peripherals is required, with or without reasonable accommodation. Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Tasks may involve light physical effort in sedentary to light work, including some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of light-weight objects (up to 15 pounds).
