Galco Industrial Electronics, Inc., based in Madison Heights, Michigan, stands as a premier supplier of industrial and commercial electrical and electronic controls, automation, and motion products, alongside repair and engineering services. Our clientele encompasses commercial and industrial enterprises, contractors, government bodies, institutions, and utilities nationwide.

We are in search of an Outside Sales Account Manager focused on the greater Grand Rapids area. This role is designed to be remote, but candidates must reside in the Greater Grand Rapids area to facilitate weekly in-person engagements.

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales, the Outside Sales Account Manager plays a pivotal role within the Galco sales team. Key responsibilities include managing the sales territory, engaging with customers, identifying key decision-makers, conducting sales calls, uncovering client needs, closing deals, and nurturing vendor relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with distributors, manufacturer's representative organizations, and both existing and prospective customers within the assigned territory to enhance business opportunities.
  • Accountable for achieving direct booking targets and distributor sales objectives for the region.
  • Lead the development of strategic initiatives, including pricing strategies for all key accounts, ensuring alignment with the Director of Sales.
  • Manage client accounts to ensure satisfaction while generating new sales opportunities.
  • Participate in sales meetings and other company gatherings as required; may also attend industry events and conventions.
  • Engage with Galco management, vendors, inside sales, and technical teams to formulate customer strategies, coordinate follow-up actions, maximize profitability, finalize orders, and ensure effective project delivery.
  • Actively contribute to sales meetings, providing updates on sales targets, forecasts, and achievements.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor's degree combined with 3-5 years of field sales leadership experience in the electronics or distribution sector, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of sales processes, purchasing, operations, systems, vendors, and product offerings.
  • Demonstrated expertise in company products and services.
  • Exhibits strong persuasive abilities, tenacity, and exceptional sales skills.
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, including strong presentation skills.
  • Displays robust analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Must be well-organized, capable of prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% is essential.
  • Must hold a valid state driver's license, maintain a safe driving record, and be insurable by the company's liability insurance provider.
