Overview:
The Transitional Youth Services division at Santa Barbara County Education Office is dedicated to establishing a robust support system for youth in foster care and those facing homelessness in the region.

We envision a future where all youth in foster care or experiencing homelessness have equal access to educational resources and supportive services that empower them to succeed.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to manage various projects and meet deadlines. You should be adept at building and maintaining effective working relationships and proficient in data management and computer applications.

Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the assigned manager, you will:

  • Develop and execute community outreach initiatives, fundraising efforts, and volunteer recruitment strategies.
  • Support the implementation of educational programs and foster positive school-community relations.
  • Assist in the recruitment and coordination of volunteers, participants, and contractors, ensuring successful program execution.
  • Maintain databases related to fundraising, donor relations, and volunteer management.
  • Coordinate events, prepare staff and volunteers, and manage scheduling and logistics.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with community organizations that align with our mission.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor program fidelity and participant development.
  • Assist in budget planning and management.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and correspondence containing sensitive information.
  • Research grant opportunities and assist in grant application processes.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from community members, donors, and staff.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma with two years of college coursework.
Experience: Four years in an administrative or program support role, including experience with local foundations, non-profits, and community organizations.

Skills:
Knowledge of the County Education Office's role in relation to educational institutions and community resources, excellent computer skills, strong verbal and written communication abilities, and conflict resolution skills.

Working Conditions:
This position involves indoor work with minimal health risks and requires travel to various community events.
