Key Responsibilities

As a Program Coordinator II for Youth Programs, you will oversee our extensive school-based bicycle and pedestrian safety education initiatives, including the Bike Safe and Walk Safe programs. Your primary duties will involve:

  • Engaging students through interactive presentations and assemblies.
  • Conducting on-site bicycle safety training at educational institutions.
  • Leading walking excursions in local neighborhoods.
  • Setting up and dismantling training obstacle courses.
  • Coordinating schedules and tracking program-related data.
  • Assessing student knowledge before and after educational sessions.
  • Assisting with grant management and program data tracking.
  • Organizing events that promote education, encouragement, and community involvement.
  • Providing support and mentorship to program volunteers and student interns.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in youth education or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach and educational initiatives.
  • Fluency in both Spanish and English is essential.
  • Ability to inspire enthusiasm in students regarding safe biking and walking practices.
  • Strong classroom management capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • A valid California Class C driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively within a team while maintaining high organizational standards and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • At least three years of teaching experience in any capacity.
  • Experience in coordinating with multiple organizations.
  • Familiarity with grant processes.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role involves a diverse work environment, including office settings, remote work, and field activities at schools and community events. Regular tasks will include sitting, standing, communicating, listening, and using a computer. Preparation for training sessions may require frequent trips to storage areas to load and unload equipment, such as bicycles and safety gear. The ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary. Travel to various locations will be required based on assigned geographic areas. Availability for scheduled events during weekdays, including early mornings and occasional weekends or evenings, is expected.
