STATUS: Full-Time, 40 hrs/wk, Non-Exempt

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) is a prominent organization dedicated to serving youth who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in West Los Angeles. Established in 2011, our agency provides trauma-informed, accessible programs that assist young individuals in moving off the streets and attaining stability to thrive in their lives. Our comprehensive services include meal provisions, outreach initiatives, drop-in support, health and wellness programs, case management, educational resources, employment assistance, and housing solutions.

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Community Impact Coordinator will be an integral member of the Development team, working at designated SPY locations to deliver services for youth facing homelessness. This role entails coordinating meal services and volunteer activities, as well as programming aimed at supporting residents with complex health, functional, and social needs, facilitating their reintegration into the community.

The Community Impact Coordinator will assist the Volunteer Manager by training volunteers on-site and organizing volunteer events. Additionally, this position will engage with community members to promote SPY programs and foster new partnerships with various organizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and support volunteers during their shifts at designated locations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of meal preparation areas before and after service.
  • Coordinate with meal donors to ensure daily breakfast and lunch provisions.
  • Research and propose new, cost-effective meal options to enhance the program.
  • Solicit donations from grocery stores and organizations to support meal initiatives.
  • Assist with food bank runs and train volunteers for this task.
  • Monitor kitchen inventory and place orders for necessary supplies.
  • Maintain budget tracking and manage receipts for purchases.
  • Conduct tours for meal donors to showcase SPY facilities.
  • Support and manage volunteer groups as needed.
  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective volunteers.
  • Assist the Community Impact Manager with in-kind donation efforts.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to further the organization's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in development and communications is required.
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Safe Place for Youth.
  • Innovative thinker who utilizes unconventional resources for organizational benefit.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong project management skills with excellent organizational abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Integrity and a commitment to professional excellence are essential.
  • Familiarity with the landscape of homeless youth services in Los Angeles is preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Adaptability to various environments, including office and outdoor settings.
  • Physical demands may include lifting up to 15-20 pounds.
