Global Head of Employee Relations

In the role of Director of Employee Relations Initiatives, you will be instrumental in shaping the framework for employee relations, ensuring a cohesive and compliant workplace culture throughout McDonald's global operations. Collaborating with various departments, you will oversee the effectiveness of employee relations strategies, aligning them with the company's mission and values.
Key Responsibilities:
- Global Employee Relations Framework: Design a comprehensive framework for addressing employee relations challenges globally, incorporating innovative technology and tools to foster a supportive work atmosphere and boost employee morale.
- Compliance and Risk Oversight: Spearhead the creation and execution of a thorough compliance and risk oversight strategy, proactively identifying potential issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Grievance Management and Investigations: Lead the development of a comprehensive grievance management and investigation strategy, ensuring timely and fair resolution of employee concerns, conflicts, and misconduct. This will include a unified service delivery model with consistent performance metrics across all markets.
- Absence Management Policies: Formulate global policies and procedures for leave and absence management, ensuring adherence to relevant employment regulations while balancing the needs of the organization and its employees.
- Separation Policies Development: Create policies and procedures governing employee separations that respect legal standards, uphold company values, and maintain employee dignity, while minimizing associated risks.
- Performance Metrics Analysis: Track and assess employee relations metrics and trends, analyzing data to generate actionable insights that drive ongoing enhancements in employee relations practices.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal teams, including Workplace Investigations, Compliance, Global Impact, Global Business Services, and Human Resources, to gather insights, ensure alignment, and facilitate the successful implementation of employee relations policies and strategies.
Qualifications:
- Strategic Insight: Proven capability to think strategically and develop comprehensive approaches to complex employee relations issues.
- Expertise in Employee Relations: In-depth knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices related to leave management, employee separation, compliance, and risk management.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated success in leading teams and mentoring talent to achieve high performance.
- Labor Relations Knowledge: Understanding of labor relations principles, with experience in unionized settings preferred.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal abilities to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Communication Proficiency: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas clearly and succinctly.
- Executive Influence: Ability to engage and influence senior leadership, presenting insights and recommendations with confidence.
- Conflict Resolution Expertise: Skilled in conflict resolution techniques, with a proven track record of effectively managing employee disputes.
- Frontline Employee Strategy: Experience in developing strategies and policies for hourly frontline employees.
